In April in South Sudan, ES-KO achieved a big operational milestone. In the country, logistics is shaped by weather, terrain, and limited infrastructure. Reaching remote locations requires constant adaptation and practical solutions.
For the first time across both current and previous contracts, our team successfully transported cargo from Malakal to Kodok using our own river asset, the 15-ton EIS2 barge. What had previously been a major constraint is now an operational route managed directly by our teams.
Kodok has long been one of the most difficult locations in our network. With no reliable road access and an airstrip often affected by seasonal conditions, operations have historically depended on external air support. The successful completion of this river movement changes that.
By opening the Malakal to Kodok river route, we have established a logistics corridor that gives greater operational control and improves access to Kodok while supporting operations across Upper Nile. Work is already underway to extend river operations further north to Renk during the wet season.
